Job Overview:

Elevation Recruitment Group is seeking a skilled and experienced Technical Buyer to join our client’s Commercial department. This role is critical in ensuring the efficient procurement of components and raw materials for a subcontract manufacturing business, meeting the goals and objectives established by the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sourcing & Procurement: Identify and source components and raw materials for subcontract manufacturing, focusing on cost-effectiveness and quality.
  • Technical RFQs: Extract engineering drawings and part reports to compile technical RFQs for Tier 2 suppliers and OEM part manufacturers.
  • BOM Analysis: Analyse complex bills of material and make informed decisions on purchase versus manufacture in collaboration with the manufacturing team.
  • Purchasing Operations: Develop and maintain an efficient purchasing section, balancing BOM requirements with sourcing activities.
  • ERP Management: Allocate part numbers, raise purchase orders from requisitions, and manage ERP systems
  • Continuous Supply: Ensure a continuous supply of materials and services to meet delivery objectives.
  • Supplier Management: Seek new suppliers, maintain the supplier database, and evaluate supplier performance.
  • Communication: Maintain effective communication with suppliers, production control, and the quality department regarding engineering changes and specifications.
  • Cost Management: Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality and maintain standard material costs in the database.
  • Compliance & Safety: Adhere to the company’s code of conduct, ensuring professionalism and compliance with health and safety regulations.

Job Requirements:

  • Mechanical Engineering Background: Experience in purchasing raw materials, engineered products, and services.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret technical specifications.
  • Manufacturing Experience: Experience in subcontract/OEM manufacturing is highly desirable.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with oil and gas standard materials is advantageous.
  • ERP Proficiency: Experience with ERP systems, specifically EFACS.
