£32,000 plus bonus (£40K OTE)

Our client, an established engineering firm based in Stockport, is currently expanding their team with an experienced Estimator. We’re on the lookout for a highly organised and commercially-focused individual to prepare accurate and cost-effective proposals that align with customer specifications and contract service levels.

This is a varied, autonomous role working in a fast-paced team, ideally suited to someone who enjoys handling responsibility with attention to detail and a business mindset. You’ll need previous estimating experience from an engineering or related discipline with the desire to grow as the company expands further.

Job Description

Key duties of the role will include:

  • Assessing incoming enquiries to produce accurate quotations for customers within agreed timeframes, ensuring competitive pricing and profitability
  • Liaising with procurement, sales and engineering teams to clarify missing information, obtain best pricing and arrange site surveys where required
  • Using spreadsheets, database and planning tools to determine costs and timescales for parts and labour
  • Maintaining accurate records, including monitoring quote approval rates and adherence to compliance standards and SLAs
  • Developing strong relationships with internal operational teams and providing high levels of customer service at all times

Person Specification

Suitable candidates will need to demonstrate:

  • Previous estimating experience, ideally in an engineering or related field
  • Strong commercial acumen as required to interpret technical specifications and calculate complex pricing
  • Technical competency in using spreadsheets, databases and relevant software
  • First-class communication and relationship building skills
  • High levels of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Organisational and time management with the ability to work to deadlines

In return the company is offering a salary of up to £32,000 plus an additional performance bonus (£40K OTE) based on response times, accuracy and conversion levels. This role is office-based in Stockport working Monday to Friday 8.30am-4.30pm. Benefits include private healthcare, company pension, 25 days annual leave and free parking is available on site.
