Main Purpose of the Job:As a Family Support Worker you will be linked to a locality to assist with various tasks, including:
- Direct work with children and families
- Paperwork
- Taking children and families to appointments
- Supporting moves of placements
- Being the second worker on visits
- Taking notes
Responsibilities and Key Areas:
- Facilitating Letterbox Contact:
- Manage letterbox agreements and exchanges.
- Ensure exchanges meet standards and are secure.
- Provide advice and support to participants.
- Family Support:
- Deliver support packages to adoptive families.
- Build relationships with adopted children.
- Facilitate groups for adoptive families.
- Support birth families with adoption-related needs.
- Coordinate with other services and agencies.
- Meetings and Development:
- Contribute to service development.
- Participate in meetings, training, and regional events.
- Maintain administrative and evaluation systems.
- General Duties:
- Promote communication between agencies.
- Attend supervision sessions and staff meetings.
- Maintain records and produce reports.
- Use anti-discriminatory practices.
- Fulfill additional duties as needed.
Person Specification:Essential Criteria:
- Experience of direct work with families.
- NVQ level 3 or equivalent childcare qualification.
- Essential car user role (alternative arrangements for disabled applicants).
- Experience with children who have experienced trauma or neglect.
- Confidence in working with children with challenging behaviours.
