Piping Integrity Engineer - Teesside

My client is a bulk liquid storage provider operating terminals strategically placed across the UK. They currently require a piping integrity engineerto be based at their site multiple sites across Teesside & the UK on a permanent basis. 

Role:

  • Expert for piping and pipeline integrity, ensuring risks to safe operation are identified, assessed and appropriately mitigated.
  • Develop piping and pipeline inspection standards and scopes of work that implement best practices in non-destructive testing and visual inspection.
  • Develop and implement piping and pipeline inspection programmes, fit for purpose assessments and repair and upgrade strategies, fostering a risk based and proactive approach to asset integrity management.
  • Develop piping, pipeline and structural inspection standards that implement best practices in non-destructive testing and visual inspection.
  • Responsible for ensuring asset registers are maintained as-built. Ensure compliance with Pipeline Safety regulations and PSSR.
  • Where required under PSSR ensure written schemes of examination are implemented.
  • Provide technical support, leadership and guidance to projects, operations and maintenance.
  • Implementation of a risk based inspection programme for piping, pipeline and structural assets.
  • Monitor performance of inspection contractors. Implement piping repair and fabric maintenance frameworks. Assess reported defects, ensure fit for purpose calculations are performed in order to identify remaining life and repair scope.
  • Specify and prioritise repairs, define repair quality requirements, review repair procedures and post repair inspection reports.
  • Conduct technical bid evaluations on inspection & repair contractor proposals.
  • Ensure inspections, defects and repairs are documented in the CMMS.
  • Ensure emergency pipeline repair equipment is held fit for purpose, ensure contracts in place for installation and testing of repairs.

Requirements:

  • Chartered engineer or working towards chartership.
  • Mechanical Engineering qualification.
  • API 570 Inspector qualification.
  • API 579 Fitness for Service/ API 580 RBI qualification.
  • NDT Qualifications Experience managing: piping inspection works on a COMAH sites and cross country pipelines, preferably in the bulk liquid storage sector.
  • Experience working with ASME B31.3, B31.4 and PD8010 Part 1.
  • Knowledge and skills will cover hydrocarbon & chemical storage, process safety.
  • Knowledge of UK specific regulations such as PSSR, PSR, PER, PUWER, CDM and COMAH.

Salary: £50k-60k DOE per annum.
