I am recruiting for a "Buddy" to support a 21 year old male in Middlesbrough. He has requested that you will have a great sense of humour to match his, be a car driver to transport him to fun activities, enjoy bowling, bingo, karaoke, darts, gym and be able to support him to enjoy new life experiences. He loves cooking and would like support to try new recipes.

The Young Male has an acquired brain injury with a diagnosis of Autism, he is severely partially sighted and walks with a cane. He is an able walker and great communicator who is able to voice his own opinions and what he wants to do. You will have a mature solutions focussed outlook and be able to communicate well with the wider care and health team.

If you think you have what it takes to be a Buddy working closely with the family this could be the role for you. The hours are currently 2 full days per week including one weekend day, which will increase as he become more independent and will lead to overnight respite and accompanying on holidays.

Pay rate is £15 per hour with all work related expenses covered

The responsibilities for this role include:

  • Supporting vulnerable Adult with multiple diagnosis
  • Providing physical and emotional support which may include helping with household tasks and personal care,
  • Contributing to the effective implementation of individual programmes by supporting learning, independence and experiences,
  • Building relationships and providing high levels of care and support,
  • Supporting routines, from normal household routines like waking up and getting out of bed, to activities outside,
  • Maintaining professional relationships with clients, family and external health care professionals, and adhering to company policies and procedures.

The Skills You Need:

  • Great problem solving skills, the ability to think on your feet
  • Emotional resilience,
  • High levels of professionalism and a non-judgemental attitude - regardless of the service user's needs,
  • Good written and verbal communication skills,
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate (we can help you acquire this),
  • Drivers preferred but not essential,
  • Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care or another relevant subject would be preferred
