Main Duties:
  • Support a tax portfolio, with a primary focus on personal tax compliance work
  • Oversee the processing of self-assessment and personal tax returns for sole traders, partnerships, landlords, shareholders etc
  • Preparation of P11D forms
  • Provide practical support and explain businesses processes
  • Support with tax planning advice to minimise tax liabilities
  • Research changes to tax laws and regulations
  • Build strong rapport with clients, proactively handling queries and acting as their go-to person
  • Communicate with colleagues across departments, as well as HMRC
  • Work closely with the managers to ensure expectations and deadlines are met
  • Champion professional development, undertaking regular training opportunities
  • Provide ad-hoc assistance with tax queries and projects where required
Ideal Candidate:
  • Qualified or nearly qualified CTA
  • Experienced in personal tax and capital allowances for sole traders and partnerships
  • Essential tax advisory experience, particularly with owner-managed businesses and families, covering IHT, CGT, Income Tax, and Company Tax issues
  • Experience with corporate restructuring is desirable
  • Proficient in software for completing self-assessment returns; experience with Iris personal tax software preferred but not essential
  • Excellent attention to detail and highly organized
  • Strong telephone and written communication skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Willing to support and mentor junior team members
