Role Overview Scientist

This position of Accelerator Scientist you will workwithin the Cargo Research Team, leading efforts to develop, test, verify and validate linear accelerators and associated sub-systems in the X-Ray Imaging Laboratory.

You will be responsible for operation, data capture and data analysis of hardware. Additional responsibilities include supporting the wider business unit efforts in product quality assurance, root cause analysis of failed hardware, training, demonstrations, and sales and marketing support.

Responsibilities as anAccelerator Scientist
  • Provide Technical guidance to other Cargo Research Team staff providing technical guidance and the wider business unit.
  • Develop, validate, and test linear accelerators including components and subsystems.
  • Keep up to date records of system and sub-system testing and results.
  • Using tracking software package and support release of documentation intoAgile.
  • Support production engineering commissioning to help with FATs and customer demos.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Particle Accelerator Physics or RF Engineering or equivalent experience is required.

Required

  • Experience working with electron linear accelerators.

    Experience using test equipment including vector network analysers and oscilloscopes.

    Ability to work collaboratively with others in a multidisciplinary team.

    Experience working in a fast-paced product development environment is desired.

    Knowledge of high-power RF systems, high voltage power supplies or beam dynamics.

    Understanding of safe systems of work with particle accelerators and sub-systems.
