Proactive Personnel Ltd are recruiting on behalf of one of our clients in the Stoke-on-Trent area for a Technical Assistant to join their established and busy Technical Team.

You will be working in a fast-paced manufacturing workshop, working as part of a quality & technical team alongside management to ensure that all products are produced to the highest of standards. You will also be tasked with finding ways to reduce costs related to quality issues.

Main duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist production and other area’s of the business on reducing remakes
  • Focus on data integrity on defects, both internal and external and then robust actions and system improvements to prevent reoccurrences.
  • Running QIT (Quality Improvement teams) with factory and business teams.
  • Intro & management of Pass/Fail system, at a cellular level, with live Quality KPIs/Scorecards – heavily supported activity as part of digital transformation
  • Tactical NPI/D, Tech change & OPO (Old Product Out) focus & management on shopfloor (trials)
  • Goods Inwards inspections when necessary
  • Random inspections through the production process on the quality and functionality of finished frames
  • Calibration of equipment
  • Assist in producing SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) & WI (Work Instructions)
  • Testing management and creation of test samples to relevant British Standards i.e. Kitemark (PAS24) (training, will be given)
  • Identify opportunities for improvement to assist production.
  • Support Customer Service/Sales team, assist in any corrective and preventative actions.
  • Holiday & absence cover for other (Tech/Quality) team members

What you need to succeed:

  • Experience working in a quality control/inspector role within a manufacturing environment is essential
  • Experience & Understanding of ISO9001, ISO14001 and general Quality systems and accreditations is essential
  • Understanding of Window / Door Fabrication, working with UPVC or plastic injection moulding materials would be beneficial
  • Relevant degree or NVQ in related field (Quality/Technical/Engineering) & GCSEs/A-Levels
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) & computer Awareness – fully literate in MS 365/Office package
  • Methodical Approach to issue identification and eradication/management
  • Willing to learn and get hands on, this role will be office and factory based
  • Communicate effectively at all levels
  • Audit (internal and/or external audit) experience / trained, RCA (Route Cause Analysis) experience / knowledge
