I am currently partnered with a high school and college in Stoke-on-Trent looking for a skilled and motivated IT Support Specialist to join their team. My client are dedicated to providing high-quality education and a supportive learning environment for its students.

Job Summary:

As an IT Support Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining the IT infrastructure, ensuring that both staff and students have reliable access to technology resources. You will work primarily within the Windows stack, supporting both hardware and software, and will provide essential support for SIMS (School Information Management System) and Frog, the school's online learning platform.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day IT support to staff and students, addressing technical issues related to the Windows stack (Windows 10/11, Windows Server, Active Directory, etc.).
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and security groups in Active Directory.
  • Perform regular system maintenance, updates, and backups to ensure the stability and security of IT systems.
  • Assist in the deployment and management of software applications across the school's network.
  • Support the use and administration of SIMS, helping staff with any queries and troubleshooting any issues.
  • Provide basic support for the Frog Learning Platform, assisting users with navigation and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to develop and implement new technology initiatives that enhance the learning experience.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of all classroom and office technology, including printers, projectors, and interactive whiteboards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of IT systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on the use of IT resources and software applications.
  • Assist with the setup and maintenance of network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and wireless access points.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 2-3 years of experience working within the Windows stack, including experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and desktop support.
  • Experience with SIMS (School Information Management System) is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with the Frog Learning Platform is an advantage.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • A proactive approach to learning new technologies and staying up-to-date with industry trends.
  • A relevant IT qualification or certification (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Professional) is a plus.
