We are working with a well-established food manufacturing business who are seeking a skilled Part-Time Food Technical Manager to oversee technical food safety and quality management within our operations. This role is crucial for maintaining food safety and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • HACCP System Maintenance: Oversee the upkeep of the HACCP system, ensuring full compliance with food safety legislation. Regularly review and update the system to address operational changes or potential risks.
  • Legislative Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with legislation related to animal welfare, food safety standards, and industry-specific regulations such as hygiene and slaughter practices.
  • Liaising with the Official Veterinarian: Maintain effective communication with the official veterinarian, ensuring that all advisories and recommendations are promptly addressed.
  • Monitoring Production Paperwork: Ensure all production documentation is accurately completed and compliant with regulations, including production records and traceability documents.
  • Staff Training & Guidance: Provide ongoing guidance and support to staff on food safety practices and compliance with operational procedures.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience within a slaughterhouse environment, with a strong understanding of operations and food safety requirements.
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations, slaughterhouse legislation, and animal welfare standards.
  • Proficiency in HACCP and relevant industry certifications.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of effectively liaising with various stakeholders including official veterinarians, production staff, and external authorities.
  • A relevant qualification in food safety or a related field is advantageous.
