About the Role:
As a Residential Support Worker, you will be working directly with a team of skilled professionals to create a safe and nurturing environment for the children. Your role will involve supporting pupils both in and outside the classroom, helping them to develop their academic, social, and emotional skills. You will provide one-to-one support, assist with behavioural management, and engage in group activities that promote positive relationships and self-confidence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide residential support to children with SEMH needs.
- Assist pupils with their learning and social development in both the classroom and residential setting.
- Encourage and promote positive behavioural strategies.
- Work closely with teaching staff to monitor pupil progress and development.
- Support pupils in group and one-to-one sessions, helping them to engage with their peers.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of all pupils.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to foster their emotional and social growth.
- Assist with daily routines, ensuring pupils feel safe, secure, and supported.
About You:
- Previous experience working with children, ideally in a residential or educational setting, is highly desirable.
- A passion for supporting young people with SEMH needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations effectively.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Relevant qualifications such as Level 2 or Level 3 in Children & Young People's Workforce (or similar) are advantageous.
