SEN Teaching assistant

Academics are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) to help in primary schools across the Stoke-On-Trent area. This is a fantastic opportunity to support children with additional needs and help them reach their full potential.

About the role

As a SEN teaching assistant you will be working in a range of mainstream primary schools in Stoke-On-Trent on a part time and full time basis. The SEN TA will provide tailored support to students with a range of learning, emotional, and physical needs, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their personal and academic potential.

Key responsibilities

Provide support, adapting learning materials to suit individual student needs.
Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons in a structured environment
Implement positive behaviour management strategies and encourage student independence.
Support students' emotional well-being and social interactions.

Requirements

Experience working with children with SEN, particularly in a school environment (desirable).
Patience, empathy, and an understanding of diverse learning needs.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, parents, and staff.
Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations with professionalism.
A flexible approach and the ability to adapt teaching methods to suit individual student needs.
