SEN Teaching assistant

Academics are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) to help in primary schools across the Stoke-On-Trent area. This is a fantastic opportunity to support children with additional needs and help them reach their full potential.

About the role

As a SEN teaching assistant you will be working in a range of mainstream primary schools in Stoke-On-Trent on a part time and full time basis. The SEN TA will provide tailored support to students with a range of learning, emotional, and physical needs, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their personal and academic potential.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide support, adapting learning materials to suit individual student needs.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons in a structured environment
  • Implement positive behaviour management strategies and encourage student independence.
  • Support students' emotional well-being and social interactions.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children with SEN, particularly in a school environment (desirable).
  • Patience, empathy, and an understanding of diverse learning needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations with professionalism.
  • A flexible approach and the ability to adapt teaching methods to suit individual student needs.
