Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Head of Performance & Data to lead our efforts in transforming data management and performance analytics. This role is pivotal in harnessing the power of data to drive informed decision-making and foster an analytical culture across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Strategy Development: Lead the implementation of a comprehensive data strategy that addresses identified challenges such as data silos, fragmented data pipelines, and non-standard reporting structures.
- Performance Improvement: Oversee the performance and data team, ensuring alignment with corporate priorities and statutory requirements while enhancing the quality and governance of data.
- Power BI Implementation: Spearhead the deployment of Power BI to create a unified view of data, enabling self-service reporting and automation.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with various departments to identify data needs and ensure effective data ownership, storage, and retention practices.
- Roadmap Execution: Drive the execution of a five-phase roadmap focused on fixing foundational issues, modernizing data practices, and transforming data usage across the council.

- Data Quality Improvement
- Single Person View
- Data Ownership, Storage & Retention
Technical Considerations:
- Manage and optimise the substantial data assets, currently capable of storing 1PB of data.
- Evaluate and implement cloud migration strategies, exploring options like Microsoft Azure and AWS for data warehousing.
- Lead the Data Systems Transformation and Quality Improvement Project, ensuring effective integration of systems and reporting.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in data management and performance analytics.
- Strong knowledge of Power BI and its application in data consolidation and reporting.
- Familiarity with statutory requirements for data management.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to drive change and foster collaboration.
