Role & Client Overview:

Our client is a leading provider of education, training, and rehabilitation services, dedicated to transforming lives through learning. Their work in prison education is designed to help individuals develop essential skills, overcome barriers to employment, and create positive futures.

Based on-site at HMYOI Werrington, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Vocational Cover Tutor to support learners in a variety of vocational subjects. You will provide engaging and high-quality training, developing skills that enhance employability and support learners’ long-term aspirations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Vocational Training: Provide cover across multiple vocational subjects, ensuring learners receive high-quality instruction aligned with their needs and career goals.
  • Support Learner Development: Help learners develop practical skills, knowledge, and behaviours that will benefit them in employment and rehabilitation.
  • Adapt Teaching Methods: Use a range of engaging training techniques to maintain motivation and ensure successful learning outcomes.
  • Monitor and Assess Progress: Track learner development, provide constructive feedback, and adjust training as required.
  • Ensure a Safe Learning Environment: Maintain health and safety standards in all teaching spaces and workshops.
  • Work Collaboratively: Liaise with colleagues and prison staff to ensure effective course delivery and learner progression.

Essential/Desirable Criteria:

Essential:

  • A vocational qualification in a relevant field.
  • Significant industry experience in a vocational trade or subject.
  • Experience in delivering vocational training within an educational or professional setting.
  • Ability to engage and motivate learners through a range of teaching methods.

Desirable:

  • A teaching or assessing qualification (PTLLS, AET, CET, or equivalent) or willingness to work towards one.
  • Prior experience in prison education, apprenticeships, or vocational training.

If you do not currently hold a teaching qualification, full support will be provided to achieve one as part of your probationary period.
