Role & Client Overview:

Based on-site at HMYOI Werrington, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Vocational Cover Tutor to support learners in a variety of vocational subjects. You will provide engaging and high-quality training, developing skills that enhance employability and support learners’ long-term aspirations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver Vocational Training: Provide cover across multiple vocational subjects, ensuring learners receive high-quality instruction aligned with their needs and career goals.
- Support Learner Development: Help learners develop practical skills, knowledge, and behaviours that will benefit them in employment and rehabilitation.
- Adapt Teaching Methods: Use a range of engaging training techniques to maintain motivation and ensure successful learning outcomes.
- Monitor and Assess Progress: Track learner development, provide constructive feedback, and adjust training as required.
- Ensure a Safe Learning Environment: Maintain health and safety standards in all teaching spaces and workshops.
- Work Collaboratively: Liaise with colleagues and prison staff to ensure effective course delivery and learner progression.
Essential/Desirable Criteria:
Essential:
- A vocational qualification in a relevant field.
- Significant industry experience in a vocational trade or subject.
- Experience in delivering vocational training within an educational or professional setting.
- Ability to engage and motivate learners through a range of teaching methods.
Desirable:
- A teaching or assessing qualification (PTLLS, AET, CET, or equivalent) or willingness to work towards one.
- Prior experience in prison education, apprenticeships, or vocational training.
If you do not currently hold a teaching qualification, full support will be provided to achieve one as part of your probationary period.
