Salary: £32,000 - £35,000 (higher for highly qualified candidates)
Working Hours: Ideally 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM or 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Team Structure:
- Office of 16 people
- Part of a team of 4
- Working with 1 other router
- Managing 22 drivers, including some at external depots
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive coverage for transport planning
- Route up to 200 jobs per day
- Manage drivers handling 8-10 jobs per day
- Adapt to frequent changes with jobs being booked, changed or cancelled on the day
- Handle a high volume of phone calls from clients and resolve adhoc complaints
- Maximise drivers' time and efficiency with a commercial mindset
Experience and Skills Required:
- Previous experience in waste management or transport planning in a commercial setting
- Ability to work under pressure and handle a high volume of calls
- Strong operational mindset with a focus on maximising efficiency
- Experience handling multi-collections and smaller lorries that do more drops is ideal
- Candidates from distribution planning are considered, but waste experience is preferred
Ideal Candidate:
- Someone who can handle the dynamic nature of the role, with frequent changes and high-pressure situations
- Excellent communication skills, especially over the phone
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to managing routes and driver schedules
