Balfour Beatty are looking to appoint a Section Engineer to work on a highways project on the A46 executing a Bridge Slide in the Kenilworth area on a 3-6 month initial contract basis. This will involve closure planning, closure and all relevant finishing works.

The successful Section Engineer will be responsible for controlling a section of the works -key areas of the structure being built and management of a team of Site Engineers within the same discipline.

Responsibilities

  • HSEQ controls (method Statements, Work Safety Plans, Activity Control Plans, Field Control Sheets)

  • Produces Method Statements and Risk Assessments and undertakes periodic reviews.

  • Prepares and raises Temporary Works Briefs, following up to ensure timely implementation

  • Produces Activity Control Plans / Inspection and Test Plans and obtains approval.

  • Materials Take-offs and reconciliations

  • Weekly Look-Ahead programmes and work Schedules

  • Progress Reports

  • Quality Records (technical Queries, Formation Approvals, Reinforcement Records, Concrete Pour Records, Drainage Inspection Records, Instrument Calibration Checks Etc.)

  • Daily Site Diaries

  • Records of verbal instructions. Lost time, daywork etc.

  • Behavioural Safety Observations

Key Skills / Experience

  • Section Engineer experience in structural RC works preferred, would also consider good experience in drainage, highways and earthworks

  • Large scale civils infrastructure project experience

  • Good background in Engineering / Civil Engineering

  • SMSTS OR SSSTS qualified

  • Previous experience in managing packages of works

  • Is able to identify potential hazards and is proactive in implementing actions and controls

  • Good level of Environmental Awareness

  • Able to clearly communicate the requirements of a safe system of work to ensure that these are followed accurately. Suggests improvements to systems

  • Self motivated

  • Experience in managing teams/junior team members
