As a Regional Vocational Tutor (Construction), you will work across multiple sites, delivering high-quality vocational training that equips learners with valuable skills for employment and rehabilitation.
This role requires regular travel across HMP The Mount, HMP Chelmsford, HMP Highpoint, HMP Hollesley Bay, and HMP Warren Hill, so a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver Vocational Training: Provide engaging, high-quality training in construction and related vocational subjects, ensuring learners gain skills relevant to their future employment.
- Support Learner Development: Help learners develop practical skills, knowledge, and behaviours that will benefit them both personally and professionally.
- Adapt Teaching Methods: Use a variety of teaching strategies to ensure successful learning outcomes for different ability levels.
- Monitor and Assess Progress: Track learner development, provide constructive feedback, and tailor support as needed.
- Ensure a Safe Learning Environment: Maintain health and safety standards within training spaces and workshops.
- Work Collaboratively: Liaise with colleagues, prison staff, and external partners to ensure effective course delivery and learner progression.
Essential/Desirable Criteria:
Essential:
- Substantial industry experience in a construction or vocational field.
- Experience delivering vocational training in an educational or professional setting.
- Ability to engage and motivate learners using a range of training methods.
- A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (travel across multiple sites is required).
Desirable:
- A teaching or assessing qualification (PTLLS, AET, CET, or equivalent) or willingness to work towards one.
- Prior experience in prison education, apprenticeships, or vocational training.
If you do not currently hold a teaching qualification, full support will be provided to achieve one as part of your probationary period.
