About this position:
My Client is currently searching for a Substation Design Engineer to join the team on a contract basis. The Substation Design Engineer will be responsible for delivering design of EHV , HV and LV electrical substation projects both in the UK and internationally, meeting safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
Job Responsibilities:
- Deliver substation primary plant and cable design projects to targeted levels of quality, timeliness and profitability
- Deliver detailed Substation plant design, layouts, plant specifications, design calculations, cable design, cable route feasibility survey etc.
- Seek out innovative solutions to technical problems.
- Advice and design work for primary plant including transformers, GIS and AIS switchgear cables and all substation equipment.substation design up to 11kV up to 400kV.
- Have sound analytical and numeracy skills including short-circuit forces calculation, cable rating calculations, short-circuit current calculations and lightning protection calculations.
- Have a solid understanding of the interface requirements of the civil/structural and OHL aspects of HV substations.
Experience Required:
- HND (or equivalent) in Engineering or Degree (Desirable)
- Knowledge of CAD
- Knowledge of Substation Design
- Full UK Driving license
