Strategic Land Buyer / Manager

Location: East Anglia

A leading FTSE 100 listed housebuilder, known for delivering thousands of high-quality homes across the UK, is looking to recruit a Strategic Land Buyer / Manager for their Suffolk and Anglia Regions, covering the East Anglia area. The company has a strong presence across England, Wales, and Scotland, with over 29 operating businesses and multiple off-site manufacturing facilities. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to play a key part in securing strategic land for residential development while developing your career with an industry leader.

What is the role?

As a Strategic Land Buyer / Manager, you will be responsible for identifying and assessing unconsented land opportunities to support the business in maintaining a strong land supply. The role will involve collaboration with various internal teams and external consultants to manage land acquisitions, promote sites, and ensure successful project delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and securing strategic land opportunities for future residential development through option agreements.
  • Coordinating offers on land, including gathering and analysing information from external consultants and internal departments.
  • Managing relationships with landowners, ensuring they are kept informed of the site's promotion and planning status.
  • Building strong local knowledge of the housing market, planning policies, and competitor activities to support land acquisition.
  • Collaborating with Architects, Engineers, and Surveyors to maximise profitability and keep costs to a minimum.
  • Providing detailed land appraisals, financial reporting, and project management support to meet team objectives.
  • Deputising for the Land Manager as needed, providing assistance to the wider land team.

What experience, qualifications, and skills are required?

  • A solid understanding of the planning system, planning policy, and spatial strategy.
  • Familiarity with local planning authorities, the geographic location, and the regional housing market.
  • Previous experience in a similar role with a housebuilder, land promoter, consultancy, or local authority would be advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively represent the company with landowners and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • A valid UK driving licence.
