Senior UK Finance Manager

We have been retained by one of the global leaders in Home Mechanical Ventilation, Airway Clearance and Sleep therapy on an incredible opportunity for a Senior UK Finance Manager to join their site in Stratford-upon-Avon.

The UK Senior Finance Manager will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the UK entity, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, and providing strategic financial and management guidance to support the business objectives of both the UK entity and those of the Group. This role requires strong leadership skills and a thorough understanding of financial principles and practices.

This role has overall responsibility for the UK Finance function, including the line management of the Finance team, and represents the UK within the Global Finance Team.

This role is also a member of the UK senior management team, which is responsible to ensure the UK organisation is managed effectively and efficiently to meet Group and UK targets and objectives and to ensure compliance for all company statutory and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Finance

  • Overall responsibility for the UK Finance function including leading and guiding the local Finance team to reach expected Finance work. Ensure a robust financial control environment is maintained and continuously enhanced.
  • Finance business partner for senior managers and UK functional leads
  • Month and year-end closing, ensure that monthly closings are performed on time and with high quality and according to UK statutory regulations and compliant with Group accounting practices and reporting deadlines
  • Financial reporting, internal reporting to HQ and management team, and external reporting to UK authority’s, including Annual Financial Statements
  • Ensure compliance with and enforce adherence to all financial requirements, including reporting & taxation for the UK entity
  • Analyse and follow up on business performance and KPIs. Develop detailed knowledge of the cost of goods and services to understand and report on cost base and margins.
  • Budgeting, forecasting and long-term planning for the UK entity. Work with key budget holders to manage cost base and drive efficiencies.
  • Cash management, including short term and medium-term cash flow forecasting
  • Plan, coordinate and lead external financial audit and ensure all statutory reporting is completed well within the required deadlines
  • Manage relationship with the UK banking provider, including financing short term and long term
  • Manage key relationships with UK regulatory stakeholders, including auditors, tax and government authorities as appropriate
  • Approve all financial transactions to include payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivables
  • Credit management to include maintaining a robust credit management process in conjunction with the UK Sales Team and ensure customer compliance with sales terms, credit limits and payment terms
  • Sign off on all relevant purchase invoices/purchase orders and approve weekly BACS payment run
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving Corporation Tax computations, VAT returns and administration of all taxes for the UK entity
  • Develop and improve routines and processes within Finance, including closing, reporting and analysis
  • Work closely with the business to drive simplification processes in P&L and finance flows to gain business growth
  • Maintain and update professional financial knowledge and ensure competence in the field of finance, tax and regulatory compliance
  • Superuser JDE, for Finance UK. Develop a detailed knowledge of the Group finance ERP system and cascade knowledge throughout the UK team
  • Close cooperation with Finance at HQ
  • Establish good working relationships with key suppliers to ensure optimum payment terms are negotiated and to manage the cash flow implications of the purchasing strategy
  • Lead and manage the Finance team in the UK, ensuring their skills and knowledge are developed and utilised efficiently

HR & Payroll

  • Responsible for the effective administration of insurance, pension schemes etc
  • Manage and administration of employee benefits, healthcare scheme etc
  • Support Global Legal team with UK Insurances renewals and manage local insurances
  • Approve all financial transactions relating to payroll, employee benefits and bonus schemes

Member of the UK Senior Management Team

  • Member of the UK senior management team, led by the UK Managing Director, ensuring local and global strategic goals are communicated and aligned
  • Member of all regulatory committees for the UK - including Health & Safety; Quality; Data Protection; UK Staff management policies and processes
  • Business partner to UK Managing Director and other senior managers as required

Requirements:

  • Strong analytical abilities
  • Proficiency in financial modelling and data analysis
  • The ability work to tight deadlines to maintain accurate yet timely reporting
  • A detailed understanding of financial regulations and compliance standards
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to work collaboratively across functions and with Global Group partners
  • Six years’ experience working at a senior Finance level
  • BSc degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Experience with tier 1 ERP system
  • Advanced proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g.Excel, PowerPoint etc)
  • Extensive knowledge of UK GAAP
  • Experience working in an international group preferred
  • Experience of working in an SME manufacturing entity
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information in a clear and concise manner
  • Extensive experience of group and statutory reporting and analysis
  • Leadership experience with a track record of team management and the ability to effectively delegate, motivate and inspire team members
  • Hybrid model possible - 3 days in office as a minimum
