Assistant Planner - Stratford-upon-Avon

An established and dynamic planning consultancy based in Stratford-upon-Avon is seeking an Assistant Planner to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual looking to develop their career in town planning within a supportive and professional environment.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Handling phone and email enquiries.

  • Preparing Scope of Works and initial Briefing Notes for projects.

  • Conducting site assessments and evaluating development potential, including planning histories, policy analysis, and interpretation of material considerations.

  • Preparing and submitting planning applications.

  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to expand knowledge of Planning Law and Practice.

  • Liaising with Case Officers, Clients, and Consultants regarding third-party reports and project updates.

  • Providing planning advice on farm diversification and asset enhancement opportunities.

  • Attending and speaking at Planning Committee Meetings.



Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum undergraduate planning qualification, ideally including planning policy-related modules.

  • At least 18 months to 2 years of planning experience, ideally in the private sector.

  • Proficiency in IT systems.

  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.

  • Ability to effectively manage time and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.

  • Willingness to work as part of a team and support colleagues.

  • Adaptability to learn new skills and working methods.

  • A proactive and flexible approach to work.



Desirable Skills:

  • Town Planning Degree (ideally RTPI accredited).

  • Good keyboard and report-writing skills with keen attention to detail.

  • Previous experience in the Private Planning Sector.
