Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be working with a highly regarded multi-disciplinary consultancy on an Associate Heritage Planner. This is a permanent position.

Our client is a nationally growing team of town planning, socio-economic and design consultants providing high-quality advice and guidance on a wide range of planning and development issues!

This role reflects our client's expanding remit and influence in the heritage planning sector and the growth of the team with new people, skills and aspirations. As an Associate Heritage Planner, you'll have the opportunity to continue to develop your career working collaboratively with colleagues on a wide spectrum of projects across the UK.

This role will be principally focused on built heritage and your experience should complement the background and reputation for both strategic land and development management projects, working with a wide range of clients from land promoters, house-builders, architects, planners and private individuals.

You will take the lead on a number of projects from the outset, working closely with colleagues and clients to manage schemes from initial scoping advice and early-design stages to the submission of applications for planning permission and listed building consent.

In order to apply:

  • Degree and/or post-graduate qualification in conservation, heritage or a related field, with demonstrable relevant experience
  • A strong technical background relating to a wide range of historic buildings and areas, including designated and non-designated heritage assets.
  • Experience of prviding expert advice on how to develop with heritage assets sustainably.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of architectural history and strong technical awareness of different building typologies, including vernacular techniques and materials
  • Thorough understanding of the legislative and policy framework for the historic environment and up-to-date knowledge of relevant guidance and case law
  • Excellent written communication skills with demonstrable experience of assessing the significance and setting of heritage assets
  • Capable of confidently engaging with colleagues, clients and the general public in a variety of environments
