Mechanical Design Engineer

Mechanical Design Engineer Salary:£36,000 - £48,000 DOE

Orion is currently working with an innovative manufacturing company based in Nailsworth We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their friendly team and work hands-on in a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will be predominately involved in the mechanical design of vehicles however the role will also involve electrical design the candidate will be responsible for using AutoCAD to produce technical drawings and schematics, for both new designs and new processes. You will be involved in testing the equipment and QA.

Mechanical Design Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Project management of contracts from cradle to grave
  • Reading and working from mechanical drawings
  • Electrical and pneumatic design
  • Customer liaison
  • Design modifications
  • Design from customer specification
  • Layout design
  • General mechanical design sensor bracketry/equipment mounting etc..
  • Design and detailing of Aircraft Refuelling vehicles and associated equipment
  • Creation of engineering proposals
  • Generation of tender documents from customer specifications
  • Selection of components, compilation of BOMs and costings
  • Communication of preliminary designs to both Sales & Design
  • Preparation of 3D CAD data & 2D manufacturing drawings using Inventor & AutoCAD
  • Project management of contracts from concept through to delivery
  • Supervision of shop floor personnel

Mechanical Design Engineer Required Experience:

  • Mechanical Or Electrical Engineering Degree
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical design software like AutoCAD, Solidworks etc..
  • 3D CAD AutoCAD Inventor and Volt
  • 2D Designs
  • Customer liaison experience
  • Design degree/background HNC in Mechanical Engineering
  • Must have willingness to learn and develop knowledge
  • Must be a clear communicator and team player
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD
