Purchasing Supervisor

Our well established, successful, and constantly developing client based in Stroud are currently looking for a Purchasing Supervisorto join their friendly team on a full-time, permanent basis. If the employee would prefer an interim/temporary contract, the company are happy to offer this instead.

This is a great opportunity to join an engineering company that has a low turnover of staff and who can offer excellent career progression if desired. Whilst beneficial, a CIPS qualification is non-essential to be considered for the role, so long as you have relevant procurement/purchasing experience (ideally within a manufacturing/engineering environment).

You will directly line manage x2 members of staff, and will be responsible for overseeing the planning and coordination of the purchasing operations, managing suppliers and drafting supply agreements with key suppliers.

Responsibilities:

- Supervise the purchasing team and daily activities.

- Manage team administration, including schedules, holidays, absenteeism, RTW, overtime, and timekeeping.

- Manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, prices, and deliveries.

- Oversee preparation and processing of purchase orders.

- Authorised signatory on purchase orders, ensuring price, quality, and delivery compliance with RFQs.

- Maintain supplier database, vendor records, and ensure legal and quality requirements are met.

- Improve purchasing systems and processes.

- Compile monthly vendor performance data (delivery & quality).

- Collaborate with sales and proposals teams to provide costing information.

- Coordinate RFQ activity to meet proposal KPIs using RFQ tracking.

- Work with Materials Manager & Sales to analyse sales forecasts and inventory for procurement decisions.

- Monitor vendor-related goods rejections/NCRs and recover scrap/rework costs.

- Manage ECNs through the supply chain and report cost implications to projects.

-Provide cover for other purchasing team roles.

Maintain professional supplier relationships and arrange regular supplier visits and development meetings.

Key Attributes

- Previous purchasing/busing/procurement experience

- Previous leadership/managerial/supervisory experience

- Demonstrated experience of planning tools, ERP/MRP and & vendor management systems.

Hours: Monday - Thursday 8am - 4:30pm + early finish Fridays 8am - 2pm (Fully office based.)
