A Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with strong 2D, 3D CAD and freehand drawing skills; a proven background working within a High-Tech Manufacturing Company and with a focus on high quality output, will join a multi-disciplinary engineering team within the renewable energy industry.  

Applicants should bring a minimum of a 1st/2.1 Mechanical Engineering Degree, possess several years’ design experience gained within a High-Tech industrial environment such as Aerospace, Automotive or Telecoms, as well as bringing a good understanding of thermal modelling, stress and fatigue modelling.  Experience of testing using environmental chambers or wind tunnels is highly beneficial.

The successful Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will contribute to design, research and development with a focus on high quality outputs. You’ll conduct research involving thermal modelling and FEA modelling; working closely with acoustics, aerodynamics and electronic colleagues to assess the impact of mechanical design on system performance. 

Key Skills and Experience will ideally include:

  • Minimum of BSc in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline.
  • In-depth knowledge of 3D CAD technology
  • Ability to create freehand drawings and knowledge of 2D drawing conventions.
  • Several years’ experience of Mechanical design within a High-Tech Manufacturing environment.
  • An understanding of Thermal modelling, FEA, Stress and fatigue modelling.
  • Working to stringent environmental and safety standards.
  • The ability to justify design choices and take full accountability for decisions.
