If so, GSL Education Newcastle have the perfect opportunity for you! We are currently seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic school in Sunderland. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be working alongside experienced staff to provide tailored support to children with various needs, ensuring they receive the best possible education. This role is ideal for anyone looking for daily supply or long-term opportunities in a rewarding environment.

Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with special educational needs.
  • Assist the class teacher in managing classroom activities and ensuring a positive learning environment.
  • Help students with their personal, social, and academic development.
  • Adapt learning materials to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Promote independence and confidence in students.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and manage any challenging situations.
  • Support students in following their individual education plans (IEPs).

Requirements for the SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar role is desirable.
  • A genuine passion for working with young people with special educational needs.
  • Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow guidance from the class teacher and SENCo.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS registered on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
