Job type – Full time, Monday to Friday. 8.30am-3.30pm

 

Are you an SEN experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting students with complex special educational needs? We are recruiting for a SEN School in Surbiton who provide a safe, caring, and inclusive environment for students with severe and complex learning difficulties. We’re looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with SEN.

 

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll work directly with students, providing individualised support to meet their specific needs. You’ll collaborate with teachers and support staff to create a positive and engaging learning experience. Key duties include assisting students with daily learning tasks, offering personal care as needed, and fostering both academic and social growth.

 

This is a full-time, long term role with a view to going on a permanent contract with the School. The daily rate of pay will be between £90-£100 depending on skills and experience.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver one-on-one and small group support, adapting activities to meet students’ individual needs
  • Assist teachers with classroom organization and preparing resources for lessons
  • Create a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages active student engagement
  • Support students with personal care tasks such as feeding, mobility, and hygiene when needed
  • Utilise specialized communication methods to support students with speech and language challenges
  • Encourage the development of social skills, independence, and confidence
  • Monitor student progress and work closely with teachers to adjust support strategies as needed

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly those with severe and complex needs (experience in an SEN school is beneficial)
  • A patient, compassionate approach and dedication to supporting student well-being
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to form positive relationships with students, staff, and families
  • Flexible, collaborative, and team-oriented
  • Relevant qualifications in SEN or child development are desirable but not required
