RM Recruit is proud to partner with a highly regarded not-for-profit organisation in the education sector, located in Sutton Coldfield, to recruit a confident and resourceful Interim Finance Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced finance professional to join a dynamic and impactful team on a full-time, 6-month contract basis.

In this pivotal role, you will take on key financial management responsibilities, contributing to the organisation’s mission of delivering excellence in education. The position is 100% site-based, offering the opportunity to work closely with stakeholders and immerse yourself in the day-to-day operations. The role requires a commitment of 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, providing a structured and collaborative working environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare Monthly Financial Reports: Develop and deliver comprehensive monthly management accounts, budget analyses, and forecast monitoring reports tailored to assigned schools, ensuring accuracy and relevance for decision-making.
  • Support Month-End and Year-End Closures: Execute or assist with essential month-end and year-end financial processes for designated schools, including tasks such as Purchase Order reconciliation and clearance, prepayments and accruals, income tracking, and the calculation of monthly outturns.
  • Facilitate Budget Management Meetings: Lead monthly collaborative meetings with Head Teachers, HR professionals, and other key stakeholders to discuss financial performance, budget management, and future forecasting strategies, fostering clear communication and proactive planning.
  • Prepare Annual Budgets and Forecasts: Oversee the preparation of detailed annual budgets and financial forecasts, providing insights and recommendations to align with strategic objectives.
  • Monitor Educational Trends and Policies: Stay updated on emerging developments in the education sector, assessing potential impacts on the Trust and advising on necessary adjustments to financial strategies or operational plans.

The ideal candidate for this role will be either immediately available or able to start on short notice, demonstrating adaptability and a proactive approach. You will bring exceptional analytical skills, paired with a meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to delivering accurate and reliable results. Your prior experience in a similar role will have honed your ability to manage complex financial tasks while showcasing excellent leadership and team management capabilities. We are looking for candidates who are AAT, CIMA, or ACCA qualified, or those who are qualified by experience, with a proven track record of success in financial management. While prior experience within the education sector is highly desirable to our client, we also welcome applications from candidates with transferable skills from other industries who are eager to bring their expertise to this sector.
