Are you an experienced and ambitious professional looking to progress in your career? Our client, an established and well-regarded provider of residential childcare, is seeking a Deputy Manager for their 8-bed Learning Disabilities (LD) home in Sutton Coldfield. This role offers a genuine pathway to becoming a Registered Manager, with new homes planned to open within the next 6–12 months.

  About the Role:

As Deputy Manager, you will work alongside the Registered Manager to ensure the delivery of high-quality care and support for children and young people with Learning Disabilities. This is a unique opportunity to develop your leadership skills and prepare for future management responsibilities in a growing organisation.

  Key Responsibilities:
  • Team Leadership:

    • Assist in recruiting, training, and supporting a dedicated care team.
    • Foster a positive and professional workplace culture.
  • Care Delivery:

    • Oversee the care and support of young people, ensuring a person-centred approach.
    • Develop and review tailored care plans to meet individual needs.
  • Compliance & Quality Assurance:

    • Support the Registered Manager in maintaining compliance with Ofsted regulations.
    • Contribute to monitoring and improving service quality through audits and reviews.
  • Operational Support:

    • Help manage staffing, rotas, and day-to-day operations of the home.
    • Step up to manage the home in the absence of the Registered Manager.
  • Career Progression:

    • Gain hands-on experience and leadership training to prepare for a Registered Manager role.
    • Play a key role in shaping the development and operation of new homes.
  Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Deputy Manager or Senior Support Worker in a residential childcare or LD setting.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent); Level 5 in Leadership and Management is desirable or willingness to work towards it.
  • Strong understanding of Learning Disabilities and person-centred care.
  • Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
  • A genuine ambition to progress into a Registered Manager role.
