About them: We are working on behalf of a secondary school located in North Birmingham. The school focus on their students and preparing them to excel in their futures. It is a lovely school and is rated as a "Good" by Ofsted.

Job Description: As a SENCO, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that students with special educational needs receive the support they need to achieve their full potential. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Strategic Development: Developing and overseeing the school's SEN policies and provision.
  • Support and Training: Training and supporting teachers and teaching assistants in SEN best practices.
  • Assessment and Monitoring: Assessing the educational needs of SEN students and monitoring their progress.
  • Resource Management: Managing resources and advising on the deployment of staff to support SEN students.
  • Collaboration: Liaising with parents, external agencies, and other schools to coordinate support.
  • Teaching and Learning: Providing one-on-one support and developing individual education plans (IEPs) for SEN students.

Requirements

  • Experience: Proven experience in teaching, particularly with SEN students.
  • Education: Relevant qualifications in education and special educational needs.
  • Skills: Strong communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All successful applicants will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
