Assistant Accountant / Management Accountant

Location: Sutton, Surrey.

Salary: £30,000-c.£37,000 DOE

TPF Recruitment is delighted to be partnering with a leading and fast-growing theatre production company to recruit an Assistant Accountant / Management Accountant. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established team working across a portfolio of high-profile theatrical productions, both in the UK and internationally.

Our client has an impressive reputation within the live entertainment sector, producing a diverse range of critically acclaimed shows. With multiple productions running concurrently, they are now seeking a skilled and enthusiastic finance professional to support the financial management of their growing slate of work.

About the Role

Working closely with a dynamic team of industry professionals, you will take responsibility for the financial planning, reporting, and day-to-day accounting of multiple live productions. You’ll support the full production lifecycle, from initial budgeting through to post-show reporting and investor communications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production budgeting and forecasting
  • Managing show-specific accounts and cashflows
  • Weekly payroll processing for cast and crew
  • Theatre settlements and supplier payments
  • Preparing VAT returns and calculating Theatre Tax Relief (TTR)
  • Creating royalty statements and investor reports
  • Liaising with venues, legal teams, and production partners
  • Attending internal finance meetings and client offices regularly
Requirements

The ideal candidate will bring a mix of strong technical accounting skills, a hands-on approach, and a genuine interest in the creative industries.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Xero and Excel proficiency
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • A collaborative and proactive team player

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in the entertainment, theatre, or live events sectors
  • Knowledge of Theatre Tax Relief (TTR)
