Accounts Payable Specialist FIXED TERM CONTRACT - Sutton, Surrey

Our Client is a leading global distributor of specialty chemicals and ingredients, with a dynamic presence in Sutton, Surrey. Our team of over 230 talented professionals is dedicated to driving growth through strategic partnerships with top producers and offering expert solutions to our customers. Role Overview:We are looking for an organized and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our finance team. This position will play a key role in ensuring the smooth processing of supplier invoices, handling payment runs, and supporting our finance operations. You'll be part of a collaborative team, working closely with both internal and external stakeholders to maintain effective and efficient accounts payable processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately process supplier invoices by matching them to purchase orders.
  • Handle overhead invoices and ensure timely processing.
  • Manage the filing of paperless invoices and maintain accurate records.
  • Onboard new suppliers and ensure smooth setup in our systems.
  • Resolve any supplier invoice queries, collaborating with internal and external parties via phone and email.
  • Reconcile supplier statements to ensure accounts are up to date.
  • Liaise with internal teams to verify and check transport costs.
  • Ensure the accuracy of bank details for payments.
  • Coordinate payment runs for both external and internal suppliers.
  • Provide support and cover for team members during periods of absence.
  • Perform any other ad hoc tasks as required by the finance team.

Ideal Candidate:The ideal candidate will have experience working in an Accounts Payable function and be confident in managing multiple tasks simultaneously. We're looking for someone who is:

  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills.
  • A strong communicator, able to interact professionally with both suppliers and internal teams.
  • Detail-oriented and numerate, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiar with JD Edwards (highly desirable) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Articulate, with excellent interpersonal skills to build lasting relationships.
