Air conditioning engineer-Â install, service and maintain systems and equipment which maintain the quality, temperature, and humidity within buildings.
The work of an air conditioning and refrigeration engineer may involve but is not limited to:
- Undertaking preparatory work.
- Planning the placement of pipework, ducts and control panels.
- Installing HVAC components
- Inspecting, testing, certificating, and commissioning.
- Performing quality checks to ensure systems are working efficiently and safely
- Identifying and rectifying faults.
- Providing functional and technical information to customers.
- Maintaining effective working relationships with fellow workers.
- Overseeing work activities.
- Surveying sites ahead of fitting heating, ventilation, or air conditioning systems.
- Carrying out maintenance on HVAC systems
- Carry out minor plumbing maintenance work, including change or repair of leaks and drains, trenching and laying of new lines, unclogging of drains, etc.
- Carry out minor masonry and carpentry work
The job can involve working inside and outside, for example on the roofs of buildings, sometimes in cramped and uncomfortable positions. For some projects, ladders and scaffolding may be required.
Working 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday. The candidate will also need to be flexible, as the hours worked will depend on the project, priorities and deadlines. You may sometimes have to work at weekends and at night. Whilst we base a working weeks hour between 08:00 and 17:00 working hours can vary from one week to another.
