M&E Quantity Surveyor overview:

My client, a leading main contractor specialsing in multi-sector refurbishments of live operational sites, is currently looking for an experienced M&E Quantity Surveyor to join them on a permanent basis. The ideal candidate will have a minimum 5 years of experience as a standalone QS and vast knowledge of M&E packages and installation.

As an M&E Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing all costs relating to mechanical and electrical aspects of a variety of construction projects. This is a hands-on role that requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage budgets effectively while ensuring top-quality work.

M&E Quantity Surveyor responsibilities:

  • Preparing, negotiating, and analysing project costs and contracts
  • Handling project variations and managing the change control process
  • Preparing tender documents, contracts, budgets, bills of quantities, and other documentation
  • Undertaking cost analysis for repair, maintenance, and installation project work
  • Valuing completed work and arranging payments to contractors
  • Liaising with clients, contractors, and design teams to ensure efficient delivery of projects
  • Risk management and cost control throughout the life-cycle of the project
  • Preparing financial reports and final accounts

M&E Quantity Surveyor requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience, with proven leadership skills in managing projects
  • A strong background in Mechanical & Electrical surveying within the construction industry
  • Familiarity with standard forms of contracts such as NEC, JCT, etc.
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • RICS or other relevant professional qualifications would be a bonus but not essential
  • Proficiency in cost management software and strong Excel skills
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
