Alecto Recruitment are working with a leading provider of Solar PV solutions based in Kent, who are now looking to appoint a Solar PV Estimator on a full time and permanent basis.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Technical Design Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for solar PV installations, working closely with sales, design, and project management teams to ensure projects are completed within budget and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Analysing project specifications, site surveys, and technical drawings to prepare accurate cost estimates.
- Assess material, labour, and subcontractor costs for residential and commercial solar PV projects.
- Work with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing for components and installation services.
- Prepare and submit detailed proposals and quotations for clients.
- Collaborate with the sales and installation teams to develop optimised system designs and cost-effective solutions.
- Stay updated with industry trends, equipment costs, and government incentives affecting solar PV pricing.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and company policies.
- Provide cost-benefit analysis and ROI calculations for clients.
Key Skills and Competencies
- Previous experience as an estimator in the solar PV, electrical, or construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of solar PV system components, installation techniques, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in estimating software, spreadsheets, and CRM tools.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Good communication and negotiation skills.
- Understanding of relevant UK regulations and incentive schemes (e.g., MCS, G98/G99, VAT rules on solar).
Qualifications
- HND/Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field (preferred but not essential)
- Experience with PV design software such as PV*SOL and AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with net metering, battery storage, and grid connection requirements.
