About the Role

Main Residential Developer client is after a Head of Technical to join their UK Construction Team in Swanley.

The Head of Technical will be a key leader, responsible for overseeing the design and technical execution of multiple projects. In this role, you will lead and manage the Technical Team, ensuring operational excellence and the timely, on-budget delivery of project designs and approvals.

You will be someone with at least 10 years experience in the industry. The ideal candidate will have experience in Property Services, refurbishment, residential schemes, building safety legislation, and familiarity with fire risk assessments. Must be passionate about construction, dynamic and looking for company longevity.

Responsibilities:

  • Offer strong, transparent leadership to the Technical Team, including Design Managers, Design Coordinators, and Document Controllers, throughout all phases of the project- from bidding and design to construction and handover.
  • Ensure all aspects of the building design are fully coordinated, including fire safety, structures, M&E, faades, internal specifications, service strategies, and maintenance strategies.
  • Adopt a detailed, process-oriented approach to consistently achieve high standards of quality.
  • Ensure tasks are completed promptly, aligning with agreed-upon timelines and milestones.
  • Provide support, guidance, coaching, and direction to the Technical Team.
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive team culture that encourages open communication and ensures individuals feel valued and appreciated.
  • Mitigate risks, uphold quality standards, protect profit margins, and maintain strong client relationships to position the organization as the preferred partner.
  • Monitor changes, whether they are from Clients, design consultants, subcontractors, and the construction team, ensuring proper documentation and approval.
  • Conduct site visits as and when required.

Qualifications And Skills:

  • 10/15 years of experience in residential construction.
  • Commute time to Swanley is no more than an hour.
  • Relevant Degree or diploma in industry related field, not a must but is desirable
  • Proven track record of leadership in a senior position, successfully managing multiple projects.
  • Experience successfully managing all aspects of the design and technical process for residential buildings.
  • Tenacious, enthusiastic, driven, and goal-oriented.
