Role of a Classroom Assistant:

  • Monitor and supervise students during classroom activities
  • Provide individual or small group support to students
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and promote positive interactions
  • Support the implementation of lessons
  • Work with children of all abilities

A successful classroom assistant must have a passion for education, excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team. You must be calm and empathetic whilst being able to facilitate an enjoyable and engaging learning environment for the children in your class. Relevant experience in mentoring, coaching, tutoring, assisting in a nursery, childcare, supporting children with SEN or similar experience in a classroom setting would be beneficial but not essential.
