We are seeking passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistants to support students and assist teachers in delivering high-quality education. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to facilitate a positive learning environment, offer individualized support to students, and contribute to the overall development of the school community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the teacher in planning, preparing, and delivering lessons.
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with learning needs, including those with special educational needs (SEN).
- Support students' emotional and social development, including encouraging positive behavior and promoting inclusion.
- Supervise students during classroom activities, playtime, and extracurricular activities.
- Help students develop their literacy, numeracy, and other subject-specific skills.
- Assist with classroom management and maintain an organized and safe learning environment.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of student assessments.
- Prepare teaching resources and learning materials as directed by the teacher.
- Communicate effectively with parents and colleagues, providing feedback on student progress where necessary.
- Participate in school meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Relevant teaching assistant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant certification).
- Previous experience working in a classroom or similar educational setting (preferred but not essential).
- Strong understanding of child development and behavior management techniques.
- Ability to work as part of a team and adapt to different teaching styles.
- Good communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
- Passion for supporting students and helping them reach their potential.
- A positive, empathetic, and flexible approach to working with children.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience supporting children with special educational needs (SEN).
- Knowledge of safeguarding practices and procedures.
- First Aid certification (or willingness to undertake training).
- Understanding of the local education system in Swindon.
- Proficiency in ICT and the use of educational technology.
