Teacher Active is proud to be working with a wonderful Alternative Learning Provision in Swindon, supporting with their recruitment for a dedicated and passionate Learning Support Assistant. The setting serves vulnerable young people who have exited mainstream education, aiming at successful reintegration and ensuring a sustainable transition to post-16 education. Upholding a high standard of education while delivering the national curriculum within a flexible environment, there is emphasis placed on the important provision of social, emotional, physical and mental health-centred programmes that help students to thrive and reach their full potential.  We are looking for a driven and knowledgeable Learning Support Assistant who can make a positive and lasting impact in the lives of young people.

We are seeking an organised and proactive individual to take on this day-to-day role, although there is potential for this to become a long-term placement for the right Learning Support Assistant. Every day is different, filled with the opportunity to learn and grow. The successful candidate will bring a big smile, new perspective and skill set to this role. They will demonstrate an eagerness to develop their own skills to adapt to the pupils’ individual needs and have a positive impact on the school.

The position will involve working with students across Key Stages 3 and 4. A proactive thinker with great organisation and the ability to take control of situations confidently is necessary.

The successful Learning Support Assistant will have:

  • Experience and/or in-depth understanding of supporting vulnerable young people.  
  • Experience and/or in-depth understanding of working with students with Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) and challenging behaviours.
  • Level 2 or 3 CACHE or equivalent is an asset.
  • Team-Teach or MAPA qualifications desirable.
