Job Title: Manufacturing and Tooling Engineer

This client is a leading, global innovator in the manufacturing industry, with over 50 years of knowledge and expertise delivering customised tooling solutions and producing high-quality products and solutions. Based in Wiltshire this client is enjoying unprecedented business and product growth and due to this success is now seeking an additional Manufacturing and Tooling Engineer on a permanent, full-time basis.

Job Description: To apply for this position, you can demonstrate previous employment experience working as a Manufacturing and Tooling Engineer with extensive knowledge of CNC tooling and machining. We are ideally seeking an engineer who has ‘hands-on’ experience in CNC multi-axis milling, tuning, and surface grinding. You will have a thorough understanding of manufacturing processes ensuring efficient production and high-quality manufacturing output.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process improvements through new tool technology and machining methods
  • Responsible for managing Master Data – materials (BOM), parts, products and pricing catalogues
  • To identify, source, and manage capital equipment
  • Assess current costings against products, checking for cost efficiency and product availability
  • Work with production operatives, and engineers to provide technical support
  • Trial new tool specifications and present findings to key stakeholders
  • Source, assess and negotiate with global supply chain for best price, best products
  • Work to develop new and improved tooling and fixtures for the CNC machining process
  • Optimise manufacturing processes and documentation to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of tooling and manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost analysis for new projects and tooling designs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to CNC machining and tooling.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing capabilities.
  • Provide technical support and training to production staff on CNC machining and tooling best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with CNC machining and tooling design.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Mastercam).
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and quality control.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with colleagues at all levels.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
