Seamstress / Sewing Machinist

9am - 5pm

Monday - Friday

£12 per hour

Our client based in Swindon are looking for a Seamstress/Sewing Mechanist to join their team. They are looking for a hard-working individual who can offer flexibility and commitment. This highly motivated individual will need to display a professional approach to their work and have a genuine ‘can do’ attitude towards their responsibilities. 

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that sewing machines and other equipment are in good working order. 
  • Altering or repairing customers garments and other articles, which includes hemming, mending, lengthening, as well as taking in and letting out seams.
  • Constructing garments and other articles and recording the alternations required.
  • Using irons and pressing machines to erase the crease on the garments and other articles. 
  • To report any complaints, accidents, equipment malfunction, maintenance faults, suspicious persons, safety hazards or other incidents immediately to the supervisor or the duty Manager. 
  • To understand and follow all the objectives, standards, policies and procedures outlined by your Manager.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a seamstress or tailoring
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced atelier, working with a calm, positive and problem-solving attitude.  
  • Comprehensive knowledge of health and safety standards.
  • Ability to work with a variety of fabrics and materials, including delicate and high-end textiles.
  • Excellent attention to detail and precision in craftsmanship.
  • Safety and legal compliance are a must. We welcome applications from people with a good safety record.
