An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Credit Controller to join a well-established and growing business in Tamworth. Due to continued expansion, the company is looking to strengthen its finance team with a dedicated individual who can take ownership of a portfolio of up to 1,250 live accounts. This is a fantastic chance to work in a fast-paced environment where you will play a key role in managing customer accounts and minimising outstanding debt.

In this temporary-to-permanent position, you will be responsible for conducting credit risk checks, chasing overdue payments, and maintaining strong relationships with customers. Initially offered on a three-month temporary basis, the role is expected to become permanent, providing an excellent long-term career opportunity. This position is best suited for individuals who are immediately available or on a short notice period.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing a portfolio of up to 1,250 live accounts, ensuring timely payments.

  • Conducting credit risk assessments and setting appropriate credit limits.

  • Chasing overdue invoices via phone, email, and letter.

  • Allocating payments and reconciling customer accounts.

  • Handling and resolving invoice disputes and queries efficiently.

  • Working closely with internal teams such as sales and finance to ensure smooth account management.

  • Preparing and reporting on aged debt and cash collection forecasts.

  • Supporting process improvements to enhance the efficiency of the credit control function.

Candidate Attributes and Skills:

  • Previous experience in credit control or a similar finance role.

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with a confident approach to chasing debt.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems.

  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage a large volume of accounts.

  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating with a supportive team.

  • Immediate availability or a short notice period is essential.
