Our client is a well-established freight forwarding, transportation and logistics company with operations in road, rail, sea, air and warehousing, with offices globally.
We are now looking for Freight Forwarding Operations Clerk to work on multi modal freight forwarding movements with global freight clients based in Tamworth


Your role will involve all aspects of freight forwarding with a focus on customer service. Freight Operations is key with focus on servicing the client and supporting the team in the branch on a day-to-day basis.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities

* To sort, filter and distribute documentation and create and maintain job files in an accurate and timely manner
* To deal with all aspects of International and Domestic freight movements (Import, Export by Sea, Air Courier and/or Land)
* To monitor flights and vessel arrival times and inform the customer of delays
* To act as a conduit between customers and suppliers to ensure all needs are met within the specified delivery time
* Be able to work without the aid of supervision
* To liaise with overseas offices for shipment movements, taking responsibility for monitoring progress and keeping the customer advised of the status
* Updating customer reports ensuring accuracy before sending to customers
* Booking deliveries & arranging collections
* Completing Customs declarations in line with UK HMRC requirements including collecting Duty and VAT payments and monitoring the use of our deferment facility.
* Raising of Customer invoices and making sure job is profitable

In order to apply
* Good understanding of operational processes, including import/export procedures, customs regulations, and transportation management.
* Educated to GCSE standard (minimum of 5)
* Ability and confidence to deal with customers on a daily basis
* Ability to consistently meet deadlines in a timely manner
* IT literate (ability to utilise MS Office tools such as Word, Excel, etc.)
* Effective Time Management skills
* Effective organisational skills with significant focus on attention to detail
* Excellent telephone manner and ability to effectively communicate at all levels both internally and with clients

Package and Benefits
* Salary 27,000 to 30,000 but flexible for the right candidate
* 26 days including 1 day off for your birthday, plus 8 statutory (January-December) opportunity to buy up to 5 extra days Holiday
