About the Role:

As the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll take a pivotal role in the design and development of automated machinery. You’ll work closely with the client’s in-house teams to deliver robust and efficient solutions, leading projects from initial concept through to manufacture.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the mechanical design process, focusing on stainless steel structures and steel fabrications.
  • Produce detailed 3D models and technical drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are optimised for production.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and to specification.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to ensure designs meet project requirements.

About You:

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • Extensive experience in mechanical design, ideally in automated machinery or similar industries.
  • Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks.
  • Strong knowledge of designing with stainless steel and steel fabrications.
  • A solid understanding of manufacturing processes such as welding, machining, and assembly.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • A relevant engineering qualification (HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent).
