About the Role:
As the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll take a pivotal role in the design and development of automated machinery. You’ll work closely with the client’s in-house teams to deliver robust and efficient solutions, leading projects from initial concept through to manufacture.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the mechanical design process, focusing on stainless steel structures and steel fabrications.
- Produce detailed 3D models and technical drawings using SolidWorks.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are optimised for production.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time and to specification.
- Liaise with stakeholders to ensure designs meet project requirements.
About You:
To succeed in this role, you’ll need:
- Extensive experience in mechanical design, ideally in automated machinery or similar industries.
- Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks.
- Strong knowledge of designing with stainless steel and steel fabrications.
- A solid understanding of manufacturing processes such as welding, machining, and assembly.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- A relevant engineering qualification (HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent).
