Overview

  • The UK's agency for providing hydrographic and marine geospatial data to mariners and maritime organisations across the world is looking to recruit a Risk Officer to support their Business Assurance team.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Maintain and update strategic and corporate risks (at least 1/4ly) aligned to the Corporate and Business Plans and keepExecutive Leadership Team (ELT) and Audit Risk & Assurance Committee (ARAC) updated with progress and any relevant changes, e.g. via performance reporting or stakeholder meetings etc. .
  • Facilitate regular risk workshops to both discuss and review current risks and aid the capture of newly identified risks
  • Draft regular reporting updates for our Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and Audit Risk & Assurance Committee (ARAC). This may include the monthly and quarterly reporting and providing support in the creation of risk deep dive papers as required/appropriate.
  • Maintain engagement with our stakeholders to ensure risk is always on the agenda, is being regularly discussed and managed effectively.
  • Enhance and implement improvements to the risk management dashboard to improve oversight and assurance for our stakeholders and for reporting to relevant committees/boards
  • Ongoing updates and improvements to the corporate risk portal as part of our continuous improvement to further increase engagement with stakeholders.
  • Maintain regular engagement with relevant portfolio and programmes to provide support and oversight in relation to both assurance and risk management
  • Aid in the ongoing review and updates risk management documentation (e.g. policies, process & templates etc) to improve ease of use, understanding and user experience in line with MOD policy and The Orange Book and Risk Control Framework
  • Act as Finance & Corporate Services (FCS) Risk Focal point - providing specific assistance & support to the teams within FCS in relation to their team and divisional level risks
  • Mentor and support divisional risk focal points across the organisation to help develop their skills and provide them with support and advice.
  • Providing administrative support to the team

Skills and experience required

  • Recognised certificate in Risk Management or equivalent and/or substantive demonstrable experience in Enterprise Risk Management
  • Some knowledge of ISO standards (e.g. ISO9001:2015) would be useful;
  • Previous experience of performing administrative tasks including good report writing skills would be an advantage;
  • Confidence/Ability to work with staff at all levels & build strong working relationships;
  • Good organisational skills & previous experience of working as part of a team;
  • Previous experience of working autonomously, showing initiative and managing own workload.
