We now have a fantastic opportunity for an aspiring and creative Teacher to join their close-knit team at an independent special school in Somerset. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated teacher to join the team, specific subject knowledge is desirable, but the main requirement is to understand the pupils needs and engage their attention to deliver the curriculum successfully. This really is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our students.

About the School:Our client is a mixed independent specialist day school for children aged 10 to 17, catering for children across the Autistic spectrum with associated multi-complex needs and SEMH. Their dedicated team of staff work together to ensure successful outcomes for students who often arrive at the school with a troubled view of education and life.Nurturing aspiration to progress the pupils both academically and socially to encourage them to take pride in their achievements. Socially, building con?dence in their students, so they can have a greater understanding of the broader community in which they live.

Who are they looking for?While experience within a SEMH/SEN specialist provision would be desirable, we will consider applications from those who have not worked in this field but have an empathetic and patient nature. They are open to receiving applications from NQT's and unqualified teacher's dependent on your experience.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Deliver engaging and challenging Science lessons to students with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to the needs of all students and encourage a love for learning.
  • Utilise a variety of teaching methods to provide a balanced and flexible education.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for learning.
  • Assess students’ work and provide constructive feedback to support their academic and social development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to the school’s objectives.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching skills and subject knowledge.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching at KS2, KS3, or KS4 in a specialist or mainstream setting.
  • A strong dedication to meeting the diverse needs of all students.
  • Enthusiasm for making learning effective and enjoyable.
  • DBS cleared with satisfactory references.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in an SEMH/SEN setting is desirable but not essential.
