GSL Education are seeking a proactive and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) in a primary SEN school located in High Peak. This position is critical for delivering children with special Educational needs personalised assistance so they can thrive both academically and socially. Every student will feel appreciated and empowered in an inclusive learning environment owing to significant measures to your efforts.

About the Role:

As a Primary TA SEN, you will play a vital role in assisting students with Special Educational Needs, ensuring they receive the tailored support required to succeed. This position involves working closely with teachers and other support staff to implement personalised learning plans, providing one-on-one assistance and promoting a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

Primary SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct assistance to SEN children, offering personalised support to enhance their learning experience.
  • Assist small groups of students with Special Educational Needs, facilitating their participation in classroom activities.
  • Work with teachers to implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and adapt lesson plans to meet the needs of the students.
  • Help manage classroom activities and create an inclusive environment that promotes learning and positive behaviour.
  • Track and report on the progress of SEN students, providing valuable feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Support students in developing their independence and self-confidence, preparing them for future challenges.

Primary SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Job Requirements:

  • CACHE Level 2 or 3 or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Teaching Assistance or Childcare is highly desirable.
  • A degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field.
  • Previous experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant, or a similar support role in a primary classroom or school setting, is preferred.
  • Patience, adaptability and a genuine commitment to supporting students' growth.
  • Understanding of various Special Educational Needs conditions, including autism and ADHD etc.
  • Strong communication skills and working effectively within a team environment.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
