Electronics Design Engineer
Office located in Shropshire
£50,000 - £55,000
As the Electronics Design Engineer you will be responsible for the design of new products as well as maintaining and upgrading existing products.
You will manage design projects from a technical perspective from conception to volume manufacture.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Produce practical, robust and cost-effective electronic designs with appropriate documentation
- Schematic, PCB layout, mechanical and firmware design for the product
- Specification of microcontroller for embedded systems and programming in C
- Hand build and test of first prototype boards and direct junior engineers for support
- Ensure full test and validation of the design to specification prior to release for manufacture
- Test and report for compliance to the relevant standards
- Create a production test solution
- Lead DFM and support NPI
- Work with Purchasing and suppliers so that designs can use the most appropriate cost effective technology
- Mentor junior engineers to develop their skills
- Engineering support for other parts of the business as required
Desired experience and skills
- Ideally 3+ years in a design environment
- Experience in design for manufacture environment.
- Experience of analogue and digital circuits and PCB layout.
- Programming in C for embedded design (Ideally STM32).
- Practical experience of hand building & debugging prototype circuits
- Knowledge of the following would be desirable
- Programming VB/VBA
- Programming Python
- SMPS
- LED lighting/drivers
- Battery charging
- EMC
